Boxing Day

26 12 2006

Ever wondered why it is called Boxing Day? I’ve got no clue until this evening when I heard Jean Danker mentioned something on Class 95. There were a few different types of “saying”. One was about workers having to box their food the day after Christmas, thus the “boxing”. Another was about opening presents the next day, thus the “boxing” again. Hmm… But at least we know its got nothing to do with “boxing” or “whalloping” anyone. Phew!

The rain hasn’t stop since the night before. Yeah! Looks like its gonna last thru tonite and perhaps the following morning. December is a period in Singapore where we see alot of the rain. But this year we’ve been seeing (extremely) lots of the rain. I was washing my hand in the kitchen and for a moment I thought ice cubes were added to the water tank up on the roof. The weather forecast for tonite, highest 28 degree celcius and lowest? 24 degree celcius. That’s like the same temperature when I turn my air-con on in my room. Hmm… So no need to on my air-con tonite liao lor? Haha… I wonder why there’s this sour-ish feeling? Did I eat any plums? Pineapple? Lime juice? No leh… =( Weird…

Sometimes I wonder how can someone suddenly dislike another person he/she once liked so much? The key word here is – once… Maybe that explains why…

Casper Parker & Me

Superhero and me, originally uploaded by Lobinhoot.

Its a pretty cold Christmas this year. Nothing much happening in the year 2006. My mom has been hogging on my SCV for the past few weeks. Sigh~ Its good to keep her occupied la. Better than for her to nag at me for everything. Haha…

I was down at Mayian today. Ian, the graphic designer-turned-chef, whipped up a decent meal today. And Casper turned Peter Parker! Hehe… He looked very cool in his spidey suit! Check out his pictures in my flickr k? I’m getting this terrible headache now. Weird? Maybe too much Ba Kwa! Oops… =O Better go drink more water and sleep early. Its a peaceful nite tonite. And so it passed, Xmas that is. The day tmr will be brighter (I hope). 7 more days to the year 2007. So fast. Time flies.

Its about 45 minutes away from the “most wonderful time of the year~~”. Its gonna be Christmas soon. So what is Christmas like in Singapore? Hmm… Well… Its kinda like anywhere else in the world really. Lotsa lights, lotsa people shopping, lotsa cars jamming up the road. You know what I mean. Its a busy period for everyone. Well, almost everyone. I’ve not been very busy with shopping, lately. In fact, I didn’t even went shopping for anything, for Christmas. Weird eh? How can I not go out and shop for something? Its not been a very good month for me, I guess. But whatever it is, things should make a turn for the better. Soon, I hope. What have I been doing much lately? Nothing in particular. Relaxing….

Yeah… Jus relaxing. Hippo has been “chopping” my TV in my room, watching Taiwanese variety shows. At least the TV is not captivating her alot. Which leaves me some “room” for myself. Last week, the rain (actually its a storm) was TERRIBLE!! It flooded alot of places in Singapore. And the news mentioned that the “rain level” was the HIGHEST in 75 years. Can you imagine that!? Some florists along Thomson road were totally (almost) flushed out. One owner said the water level risen to her neck at one point in time. She was standing at 1.55m in height. But thank god the weather is much better these days. Okie, I’m taking a little longer than I should to write these words. Its 8 minutes to Xmas! Here’s wishing all who reads my blog (I know there r not many) a Happy and Merry Christmas!! God bless!! *A Chew!

Canon@Vivo City

Did a shoot for Pelican & Fish Associates at the Canon showroom at Vivo City. It was rather challenging as the lightings in the showroom wasn’t the most ideal. But thankfully, “technology” was on hand to assist me (and my tripod helps too). It was a fun and exciting shoot. And thanks to all the wonderful people at the showroom. Kum sia~~ =D Oh! And I’ve fixed my 20D’s hotshoe! Yay!!!!! No more papers & cardboards stuffing! Hahaha…

I dunno why I am behaving the way I was today? Weird. Maybe I was hungry? Maybe I was panaroid? Maybe I was utterly dejected? Hmm… But all’s fine now. Back to work tmr…

Yum Yum

Beach Road Curry Rice, originally uploaded by Lobinhoot.

I had curry rice at Kitchener Road this afternoon. Yes, its the (very) famous Scissors Cut Curry Rice! You must try it to believe it! Its in the sauce! Yum yum yum…

And what a sunday it was today! Yeah… Its like pouring half this weekend. In fact, the routine these days will be a little sun in the morning, then *kaboom* – Rain and thunderstorm in the afternoon. My good friend told me he just “waxed” his car one morning and the next thing he knew, it was pouring like crazy tat very same afternoon. So, my advise to all car owners is – Do not waste time and money polishing, waxing, washing n cleaning the exterior of your cars. Pointless. Where was I? Oh… Lazy sunday again. I slept late last nite.  And no, Jack Black isn’t Sam from Lord of the Rings. =P Sam was played by Sean Astin. Oh well! Who the ‘ell cares if Sean Astin played Sam in LOTR?!

I went to shoot my good pal’s ROM this evening. It was at Amara, Singapore. I got it mixed up with M Hotel. Ooo man~~ Anyway, I got there on time. Haha… It wasn’t exactly a simple ROM ceremony, but it was neither complicated. Hmm… “Complications” reminds me of “The Holiday”. 8 tables, 1 couple, lotsa food. Only relatives and some close friends were present. I didn’t know my pal’s wife was 10 years his junior. Hmm… I used to think tat such a wide age-gap will never work. But there are lotsa good examples out there. All the best, Jimmy! =D I enjoyed the food.

Tea bags…

12 12 2006

I’m simple! But do not hurt me! Once I’m hurt, THAT’S IT! Good luck to you!! I dun like revenge. But if I have to do it, I will double it…. >:(

Sometimes I wonder why do I worry so much? I worry about this, I worry about that. So much things in my life to worry about. Maybe must list down all these and prioritise which to worry first. Tmr’s gonna be a new era. The boss is leaving and a new boss will be replacing him. What’s it gonna be like in the future? God knows… Pray for me. Like I’ve mentioned. I’ve done my best. But if my best is not what the boss expects, then I can only try and work harder. I just saw the below quote somewhere today. Give it a thought…

“People’s character are like tea bags. You can only see how strong they are when you put them into hot water.”

Fetch?

Doing what I do best – Fetch!, originally uploaded by Lobinhoot.

Was out and about last weekend! But I wished I can forget this terrible weekend. How do you forget something that you simply cannot get out of your head??

My lil boy ain’t as fit as he used to be. (Seems like talking about me too. Haha!) I was playing frisbee with the boy and he did only 3 runs. THREE!!?? Wonder who is getting lazier? Haha… I’ve been guilty of not running (for ages). I was looking at my IPPT result for this year, and it read 7 Jul 06 – Silver award. Hmm… So effectively, I’ve not run for 5 months! WTF!? “What the hell are you doing, Tommy?” “Do u wanna be all chubby and cuddly?” Hmm… What’s wrong being chubby and cuddly? Hahaha… =D Oops… Okie, I must start to do something. Its the holiday season soon and I think its just about time I start to don my running shoes and hit the tracks!

I hate Mondays! Nothing seems to go right for me today. Got queried by the boss today about the recent concluded project. There’s nothing I could do now. What’s done cannot be undone. But its not like a “grave” mistake or anything like that. Okie, it may be my fault. But we ain’t got any more time left then! Ok! Enuff! Case closed. Don’t wanna go there again.

What’s the worst thing one could feel? Being of no significance. But is it really good to be THAT significant? Oh well… Sometimes being in the backseat is good la. Not so much in the spotlight. Imagine being under a 600W lamp all the time? Some superstar wouldn’t mind, maybe? Dun wanna stress so much la… Dun go out during the day lor… Haha…. =D

I know I’m cute!

What a cute boy?! I’m referring to this little boy I snapped at a wedding recently. He looks like he’s about 3 or 4 years old. And guess how old his mom is? Probably only 20 or 21 this year. Amazing? Imagine the mom going clubbing with her son in about 15 years’ time. The mom will only be 35 years old and her son , 19. Wow?! So is it good to have a kid so soon? Pros and Cons. Its a good thing to have a son(or a kid for that matter), when u r young. Starting young may be good, but in the high expensed world these days, its really tough to maintain a comfortable life. Then again, what’s comfortable? To me, being happy is kinda enuff. I just wanna be happy (jus like how the boy look in this pic. Love his smile). I was happy… only then… I wanna forget the months of November and December of 2006!

Was in the office talking to one of my colleague about the relationship between boss and surbordinates. And here’s what we derived – “The boss can ask the employee to come back to the office, even if the employee doesn’t wished to. But the employee cannot ask the boss to come back to the office. If the boss wanna come back to the office, the employee cannot stop him from coming back. But if the employee wanna come back, and the boss doesn’t want him to come back. Then the employee can’t come back to the office.”

So when should we go to the office? Hmm… I’m lost… Haha…. But whatever it is, the boss is ALWAYS right. =)

Star-studded Wedding Dinner

2 12 2006

Mediacorp Artistes, originally uploaded by Lobinhoot.

My third wedding dinner in a week. Hectic! Shack out! Tired! U can name watever “tiring” word in the dictionary, and that would best described my state now. I actually dashed thru a red light just now. (Oops… Is tat a confession?) I was lucky I guessed. Or was it, I guessed I was lucky? Hmm… Its like comparing “so and so is abit bad” with “so and so is not so good”. Which would u prefer to hear? I was discussing with a good friend and we concluded that the first one is more like positively negative and the latter is negatively positive. Plus minus, minus plus. Back to the wedding….

Was shooting for Patrick and Joyce. They were friends of Cansen. Another friend I came to know when I shot his wedding last year. And looks like I’m “contracted” to shoot the rest of the gang who hasn’t tied the knot. My video works seems to be a sure-win product. But I am not gonna jus rest on my laurels! (Is that how its spelled?) I wanna do something more amazing the next time round! Shoot 16:9? Perhaps… Do it in style! But its gotta be with the approval of the couple and of cos, time will be the MAIN factor! Lots of planning involved too. It won’t be easy I’m sure. But withe the iron-will mentality, I’m sure nothing cannot be achieved! Agree? (I hope so….)
