Happy birthday to me

Today’s my birthday. My 48th birthday to be exact. So what have I done in my 48 years living on planet Earth? If we follow the Lunar cycle of 12 years (for the 12 zodiac animals), this will be my 4th cycle on Earth.

So what’s been happening during these 4 cycles? For the first cycle, I was practically growing up. From a little toddler to a young kid facing the first major exam milestone at 12yo. I didn’t do well during my 1st cycle, if you ask me.

Then it was on to my next cycle. From 13-24yo, I started to get into relationships with the opposite sex. It’s a natural process and part of growing up. And I actually didn’t have a proper girlfriend until I was in Sec 4, when I was 16yo. Some considered it late to have a girlfriend. But I just thought the time wasn’t right.

Then at age 20, I decided to join the Army and make a career out of it. And it was indeed a long career for me. I served in the Air Force from the middle of my 2nd cycle till almost my 4th cycle of my life. Quite amazing right?

My 3rd cycle of my life, between 25-36yo, I started my family. I had my first kid when I was 36yo. It is usually about that age, these days, that we settle down and start building our family. I also lost my dad when I was 35. My 3rd cycle wasn’t too much of an excitement.

On to my 4th cycle, 37-48yo. I managed to get a diploma during my 4th cycle, at age 41. I also lost my mom that year, making me an orphan. That’s what my younger used to say to me “Daddy, are you an orphan?”. Haha…

And it was also during this 4th cycle that I decided to leave my long career with the Air Force and join another ministry. And after 2 years working in the school, I have never been happier. Being around the little kiddos seems like what I’ve been wanting to do all these while. I want to make the school a better and more conducive place for the kids to be in. With the right planning, amd support, I’m sure I can do it.

So tmr makes the beginning of my 5th cycle in my life. Will I get to complete my 5th cycle and reflect on it, like how Im doing it with my previous 4 cycles? I dunno. Only God knows. Happy 48th Birthday to me. Amen…
